Best Practice Building Network
 http://www.cebe.heacademy.ac.uk/BPBN/index.htm

Run by a consortium of three Midlands universities (Coventry, Loughborough and Nottingham Trent), the Best Practice Building Network is not, as its name might suggest, concerned with best practice in the construction industry. Rather, it is designed to be a resource that will benefit all institutions (universities and colleges) that provide building education. The website currently contains nearly 100 illustrated case studies of good practice in delivering building education, contributed by more than 30 institutions throughout the UK and organised into logical sections: Curriculum Design; Teaching Learning and Assessment; Student Progression and Achievement; Student Support and Guidance; Learning Resources; and Quality Assurance and Enhancement. The site is well laid out and easy to navigate, but the lack of up-to-date news or events (a 2003 conference is referred to in the future) is disappointing. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 2 Oct 2006].

CEBE - The Centre for Education in the Built Environment
 --NEW URL-- http://www.cebe.heacademy.ac.uk/

CEBE is one of 24 Subject Centres which comprise part of the Higher Education Academy. According to its site, "the primary purpose of CEBE is to provide discipline based support for learning and teaching in the built environment subject communities of Architecture, Landscape, Urban Planning, Housing and Transport, Construction and Real Estate". Recently redesigned, CEBE's website is up-to-date and attractive, featuring news and events, subject and issue based materials for enhancing learning and teaching, projects and initiatives, and a useful publications section. Elsewhere, and excellent 'resources finder' provides a searchable directory of Internet sites for built environment academics, provided in association with the Resource Discovery Network. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 5 Nov 2005].
