Sustainable communities awards launched

Have you recently consulted on a project you think represents best practice in creating better places to live and work?
Creating the Future: The ASC Awards for Sustainable Communities is a new award scheme that succeeds the Deputy Prime Minister's Award for Sustainable Communities, which has been raising the profile of projects and initiatives since 2003.
This year the ASC Awards will celebrate the achievements of projects, individuals and organisations across cities, towns and villages in England, with entries invited across the public, private or third sector.
There are six categories: - Leadership in creating sustainable communities
- Partnership working across the public, private and third sectors
- Cultural contribution
- Skills, training, learning and workforce development
- Well designed and well built
- Engaging young people
In addition, the entry that in the opinion of the judges best exemplifies achievement in creating a sustainable community will be awarded the Overall Award for Excellence, which is sponsored by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Anyone, including those directly connected with the project, scheme, individual or organisation, may submit an entry or nomination.
The awards are administered by BURA, to whom any questions about entry should be directed - telephone 020 7539 4030 or e-mail awards@bura.org.uk.
The winners will be announced at a dinner event on 7 June 2007 at the Artillery Gardens in London.
Sapling.info wishes the best of luck to all entrants!
