This site acts as an information source for all things related to contemporary Edinburgh architecture. It aims to "inform both locals and an international audience of Edinburgh's architecture scene". Although the colour-scheme is somewhat garish, this doesn't detract from the site's usability. The homepage is clear and succinct as is the layout of each page. Moreover, you have to admire the work that has gone into the content of this site. It is an extremely informative site, with relative information for everything related to the local architectural world. There is an extensive links page (boasting links to 300 other Edinburgh sites), a contacts page with the details of local architects, and an excellent events page detailing the latest exhibitions, events and reviews, which is archived back to 2000, and is updated daily. Interaction is included in the news page which "acts as a resource and as a forum for discussion of topical issues, new buildings and masterplans". An impressive feature of the site are the area maps of Edinburgh that detail possible tours of the city's architectural highlights. The site is available in English and Portuguese, and is comprehensive in its content, offering clear and precise information about the company's goals, the services it provides and a list of past and current clients. Throughout the site, there are plenty of images of the company's work to accompany the text, keeping things interesting and lively. The site is both effective and user-friendly: easily navigable with a clear home-page, the user is led through the site with no excess baggage. Paintings of the Third Millenium (or Pinturas del Tercer Milenio in Spanish) is a great personal site, set up by the Argentinian artist Camilo Villanueva to showcase and sell his own paintings. The home page is a shock to the system with its splashes of colour, reflecting Villanueva's highly abstract, bold and visually arresting work. The site includes a good selection of paintings for sale and a smaller gallery of other works. There is also a short biography of Villanueva, with some extremely complementary critical quotes. For example, one critic writes, "one can feel part of his paintings and through them you can have access to the cosmic and change your soul". Because the site is limited in size it is easy to navigate through, and it is well worth a visit, just to experience the 'energy, love, and harmony' of the work - surely a good enough reason for anyone. Formerly part of the TS B/W Visual Portfolio' site, Gallery Tokyo.com is a black and white photographic portfolio for the Japanese photographer Tatsuyo Sato. This is a beautiful website - clearly and stylishly designed - which makes it both easily navigable and a pleasure to use. Sato's photographs are exquisite; they are visually striking and full of energy, often depicting street scenes and slices of life and a good selection of them are featured here. A biography section is useful in revealing a little more about the artist, while a helpful links page lists other art, photography and culture-related sites. Awarded a Sapling Commendation.  PADDI - Planning Architecture Design Database Ireland

PADDI is a "bibliographic database which aims to provide wide access to information on all aspects of the built environment and environmental planning in Ireland, north and south". The site's archive boasts an impressive time period from the 12th Century to the present day, with 18784 bibliographic records, regularly updated. PADDI produce this service in collaboration with Architecture and Planning libraries of Queen's University, Belfast and University College, Dublin, so they are fully endorsed. Everything the visitor needs to know about the service and navigation of the site is included on the homepage whilst the other areas of the site are also extensive, with links to relevant associations, societies and faculties in Ireland, including those relevant to architecture, planning, environment, building and construction. A large list of the journals included on the database is included as well as a good range of images of the various referenced buildings. Wingover Photography is an American company situated between Boston and Cape Cod in the coastal community of Wareham, Massachusetts. It is run by Christopher Woodband, and specialises in a wide range of subject matter, including "aerials, portraits, pets, landscapes, and interior/exterior architecture". Woodband has an archive of available photographs, but will also produce them to order, visiting customers' homes if necessary. Unfortunately, the design of the site is rather basic, with broken and overlapping images, an inconsistent interface and little overall attention to detail. However, there are plenty of examples of Woodband's work within the various subsections, with personal comments or explanations to accompany each. The photos themselves though are often plain and uninspired, though the attractive pet portraits have received some recognition through their use by advertising agencies and commercials.
